Stage Door

This is NOT a Christmas story.
I wouldn't want these heavy doors to slam on my fingers or hand for that matter. Once, when I was in kindergarten, I had a car door slammed on my finger. It wasn't a pretty sight. I hid my hand in the pocket of my shorts until the blood soaked through and my teacher caught sight of it. It was a bloody mess. I got the rest of the afternoon off. If a door of this weight and girth enclosed my finger, it wouldn't be blood I would be worried about. I'd be asking, where's my finger?
Will you get it for me?
I know it's around here someplace.
Agony.
Owwwwww.

  1. That car door slamming thing happened to me once too! Very, very painful. Those are handsome doors!

  2. You really need to be more careful where you put your fingers. Unless, of course, you're suddenly confronted by a plate of finger food!

  3. Those memories stick with us, don't they? Ouch! I wonder what you saw at Portland Stage...?...

  5. At somewhere like the Portland Stage, it would have to be pretty "dramatic". :-)

  6. It always has been curious to me how children try to hide an injury. The feeling of guilt, which is totally unfounded, seems to be so strong in innocent victims. I'd love to have someone knowledgeable explain that phenomena.

  8. Yow. Makes me thing of the time when I was sitting on a a kind of shelf on the back of my cousin's bicycle and got my foot caught in the spokes. Now I have to go find something to distract myself.

  9. Those doors are pretty to look at but a nightmare if you have young children who have to put their hands everywhere.

  10. Oh, you made me squirm. I remember shutting my own hand in a car door. Twice.

  11. That's one thing that has yet to happen to me so I'll open these without fear. Beautiful, love how the old blends in well with the stark lettering.

  13. Large doors like this seldom slam shut, but van doors do. Last month one of our Habitat supervisors slammed his finger in a van door breaking it at the first joint and tearing the tendon. Took emergency surgery to put it back together. By the middle of January he should start to be able to use the finger again. Vehicle doors can be dangerous.
